ABOUT BLECO
Bruno Yamil Lecona Esteban is a Mexican visual artist whose work explores how memories and emotions are transformed through the ways in which we perceive and construct an image. Founder of BLECO Art Studio, he has created around 450 commissioned works for more than 300 clients across different countries.
His practice includes watercolor narratives, installations, and chromatic series whose appearance changes according to the lighting, incorporating transparency and hidden layers. These explorations question what can be seen, remembered, or felt, creating experiences connected to space, light, and the presence of the viewer.
His work has been featured in exhibitions, festivals, biennials, and competitions in more than ten countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
During 2026, he was selected among the Top 200 artists at International Watercolor Masters in the United Kingdom; received an Honorable Mention in Light Without Borders, the WASA International Watermedia Competition in South Africa, as well as in the 17th Mexican Watercolor Society Award; reached the Top 50 of the International Watercolor Academy Award; and was recognized as a New Talented Artist at Fabriano in Acquarello, Italy. He also participated in the Japan Nadeshiko Watercolor Triennale in Kobe, IWEx 2026 in Australia, the FINEness International Art Festival in Poland, and the Море акварелі Biennale in Odesa, Ukraine.
In 2025, he received First Prize in the 16th Mexican Watercolor Society Award and in the 65th Annual Competition for Amateurs and Emerging Talents at the Alfredo Guati Rojo National Watercolor Museum. He also won the Portrait and Animals category at the Bratislava International Watercolor Festival and received the Excellence Award at Le Venezie International Watercolor Festival.
His artistic trajectory also includes participation in UrbinoInAcquerello, the International Watercolor & Spirit Triennial, the Qingdao International Watercolor Festival, the International Watercolor Festival CASTRA, and several editions of Mexico’s National Rodin Painting and Drawing Competitions.
Combining his background in Actuarial Science and Data Science with his artistic practice, he seeks to create emotional and conceptual bridges across cultures through works that invite reflection, conversation, and presence.
